Supporters wait in the cold on Jan. 19, 2025, a day before President-Elect Donald J. Trump’s Inauguration, to attend his “Victory Rally” at Capitol One Arena, where he was set to speak prior to his swearing-in. Although doors were set to open at 1 p.m., lines began to form before the sun rose, with the line still stretching miles as the event began at 3 p.m.. Despite this, people could be found celebrating, chanting, and playing music. Eventually, with the line still engulfing city blocks, officials began to alert line-goers that the arena had reached maximum capacity.
The Inauguration, taking place on Jan, 20, 2025, was moved indoors with the excuse of cold weather. Supporters, who had traveled from all over the country, were forced to gather behind barricades, with 3rd St. SW being the closest one could get to the Capitol Building from the West side. Still, groups of supporters, protestors, and vendors stood in the cold, eager to catch President Donald Trump’s motorcade as it made its way to the recently vacated White House.
